Ligature Training | Ligature Cutters Training

This Ligature Training  is delivered at your venue to groups of up to 15 learners.  The course is essential for staff supporting individuals who are at risk of attempting suicide or self-harm by the application of a ligature. We give learners more of an understanding regarding risk assessments, skills and knowledge to recognise ligature injuries and to safely remove someone from suspension using ligature cutters.  Learners will gain new skills and knowledge on how to recognise ligature injuries, treat a casualty and also to safely remove someone from suspended and unsuspected strangulation.

We always incorporate your policies and procedures to enable us to tailor the course you your specific requirements.

Why is Ligature Training and Ligature Cutters Training important?

Having ligature training and responding to ligature incidents in a professional and timely fashion can and does save lives.  Hanging is the main method of suicide for mental health service users and this may involve suspending the body from a high ligature point.   This can cause a fracture to the upper spinal column, or through asphyxiation or strangulation without suspension of the body, using a ligature point at or below head height.

Ligature training is specifically designed for support staff who are supporting children and young adults who are at risk of attempting suicide or self-harm by a number of means including the application of a ligature.

Learners will gain practical skills and knowledge to recognise self harm and ligature injuries, treat a casualty and also to safely remove someone from suspension.

Tidal will incorporate your policies and procedures accordingly to enable us to tailor the course you your specific requirements.

Aims of the course:

Ligature Training is delivered to up-skill and empower staff to recognise and identify possible ligature points and to help them implement control measures in order to support an individual who is at risk from Ligature.

Objectives:

By the end of the course attendees should have a better understanding of company policies, procedures and guidelines relating to ligatures.  Learners will also gain practical knowledge and skills to enable them to safely and securely rescue an individual who has ligatured using a range of Ligature Cutters.

Client Testimonial

2018 – Nottingham- Care Provider

“May I just say that the training yesterday was such an eye opener for myself and staff members. The information was very informative and accurate.

The tutor was so passionate which was displayed in the presentation. To be honest I didn’t want him to stop talking I wanted to learn more.  My staff and I reflect back on our own life’s and have learnt how to implement more empathy and understanding of people.  The demonstration on ligature cutting was fantastic all staff participated with confidence.

Again thank you so much for this opportunity.”

Thank you
