Course Content
The First Aid at Work Refresher (FAWR) course includes an update of first aid knowledge and skills and a revision of workplace requirements which include:
- Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures.
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure.
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
- Recognising the presence of major illness and applying general first aid principles in its management.
- Soft tissue injuries.
- Injuries to bones including suspected spinal injuries.
- Chest injuries.
- Burns and scalds.
- Eye injuries including how to irrigate an eye.
- Sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock.
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
Please note: If you allow your certificate to expire. You will then have 28 days after the expiry date to book onto this course or you will have to attend the First Aid at Work (3 day).
Course Assessment and Certification
The course will update and refresh your knowledge of the First aid at work syllabus, whilst allowing time for revision and practice sessions in preparation for your final assessment.
Assessments: Practical assessments and a multiple choice exam paper will need to be passed in order to gain this qualification
Certification: A certificate which is valid for 3 years is awarded to all successful students
