This Medication via Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) course will familiarise delegates with the methods and reasons medication is administered via PEG. It is essential that delegates have completed PEG Feeding Training prior to attending this course.

Delegates who have completed Medications Training will be more confident in applying the correct concepts in administrating medication via PEG. A vital course for any staff who come into contact regularly with patients/clients living with a PEG.
The Medication via PEG course provides sufficient knowledge and skills for staff to work safely.
Course Content:
- The purpose of giving medication via PEG.
- Consent to administration.
- How the medicines should be prepared and administered safely via PEG.
- Monitoring adverse signs or symptoms following administration.
- Recognising, dealing with, and reporting complications.
- Documentation and record keeping.
- Practical session.
Learning Outcomes:
On completion delegates will be able to demonstrate an improved understanding of administrating medication via PEG and be able to apply these skills in practice.
Course Assessment and Certification
After successful completion of the course a certificate of attendance will be issued which is valid for 2 years.
Classroom Scenario Competency Assessments
Tidal Training is now able to bridge the gap between directed learning and competency-based practice. As an addition to the course you select, we can deliver an addon session of simulated classroom-based scenarios to enhance your manual dexterity and build up your confidence as you start your competency journey. This practical session will supplement the directed training you have already had and prepare you better for competency-based assessment in the workplace. We will provide each delegate with a competency workbook which they can take back to their place of work following the course.
