Prevention and management of opioid overdose. Naloxone is a drug that can reverse the effects of opioids, and prevent death if used within a short period following an opioid overdose. For many years, naloxone has been used within emergency medical settings to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and prevent death. In short, naloxone saves lives. Naloxone is only effective on opioids, such as heroin, methadone, morphine, codeine, buprenorphine, opium, and pethidine.

This naloxone training is aimed at support staff working with patients/clients who are at risk of overdose from opioids. The course is delivered by a clinical trainer. (Qualified Paramedic or Nurse).
The training prepares staff to take the right actions if they witness an overdose and will give learners increased knowledge and confidence in managing an opioid overdose.
Delegates will have a better understanding of the risk factors for opioid overdose and the effectiveness of Naloxone in reversing the opioid effects.
