Nonepileptic Seizures | Dissociative Seizures Training

Non-epileptic seizures (NES) or Dissociative seizures may look similar to epileptic seizures, but they are not caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. This course has been designed to help learners understand what non-epileptic seizures are, what causes them, how they are diagnosed, how they can be treated and how we can support a patient/client who has these seizures.

Seizures that are not due to epilepsy are sometimes called ‘non-epileptic seizures’. They can have a physical cause such as low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) or may be related to how the heart is working. Or they may have a psychological cause. The most common type of non-epileptic seizures (NES) is functional (sometimes called dissociative) seizures.

Target Audience

This training is aimed at anyone in a supporting role who may care or support a patient/client with  Non-Epileptic Seizures (NES), also known as Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures (PNES) or Dissociative Seizures.

Course Assessment and Certification

Those learners who complete this Nonepileptic Seizures | Dissociative Seizures training and are deemed to have reached the required standard will be awarded a certificate of attendance which is valid for 3 years.
