Course Overview
This course offers a clear, practical introduction to Angelman Syndrome for staff working in care and support roles. It focuses on helping staff understand the condition, recognise each person’s individual needs, and provide support that is safe, respectful, and truly person-centred.
The course explores communication, behaviour, health considerations, sensory needs, and day-to-day support. Throughout, there is a strong emphasis on dignity, inclusion, and supporting a good quality of life. The impact of supporting individuals with Angelman Syndrome on staff is also acknowledged, with space for reflection, learning, and wellbeing.
Designed for staff who support people with Angelman Syndrome, this course aims to build confidence and promote good, consistent practice in everyday care.

Increase understanding of Angelman Syndrome across the lifespan
Build confidence in supporting people with Angelman Syndrome safely, respectfully, and effectively
Promote person-centred, strengths-based support that looks beyond diagnosis
Improve awareness of communication, behaviour, health, and sensory needs
Support staff wellbeing, resilience, and reflective practice
Encourage inclusive, ethical, and compassionate care in everyday work
Assessment & Certification
Assessment will be by continuous assessment by the trainer – there is no ‘test’ paper. A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of course.
