Housing staff often manage sensitive situations, including trauma support, conflict de-escalation, and responses to neurodiverse needs. Preparing staff to be resilient and well-equipped supports both employee well-being and resident safety. Training in these areas has typically been split across separate courses. Trauma-Informed Practice in Housing combines these elements into one integrated course, developed for housing associations.

Course Description

This Trauma-Informed Practice in Housing training is designed for housing association staff and professionals who support tenants and clients who may have experienced trauma. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to recognise trauma responses, set clear professional boundaries, de-escalate conflict safely, and respond inclusively to neurodiverse needs.

As a focused course of trauma training for housing staff, the course explores how to apply trauma-informed approaches within housing settings. It builds confidence and resilience among staff while promoting safety, respect, and inclusion for residents.

Delivered as practical, scenario-based housing association staff training, this course supports organisations in embedding trauma-informed housing training into everyday practice. Content can be tailored following a training needs analysis to reflect your organisation’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.

What is Trauma-Informed Practice?

Trauma-Informed Practice is a strengths-based approach that recognises the prevalence and impact of trauma, while prioritising psychological, physical, and emotional safety for both staff and residents. Trauma-informed practice recognises the prevalence of trauma and its impact on the psychological, emotional and social well-being of individuals.
